Commercial Green Franchise - Star Package
Making UK businesses greener

In these tough economic times companies need to find new ways to reduce costs while continuing to provide the highest level of quality and service. With new legislation, rising energy costs and increased global competition gaining a competitive edge by reducing costs is critical
Green Assess Energy Surveyors provide a range of services to help businesses drive down their operating costs, offering a range of services from energy audits and renewable energy advice to energy performance certificates and funding guidance.
4 businesses in 1
This package has been specifically designed to target the services required by commercial building owners, commercial landlords, state owned public sector buildings and the property professionals acting on their behalf.
Due to the recent amount of ‘green’ legislation introduced relating to the energy consumption of private and public sector business premises, businesses are now required to hold the appropriate types of energy performance reports for their buildings. When these reports are required depends on each specific report type.
Servicing a combination of self-generated local clients, Green Assess website leads and Green Assess national account clients; this franchise opportunity enables suitable candidates to earn from four distinct, but complimentary, business areas.
1. Energy Audits and Renewable Energy Advice
Soon to include Green Deal Advisor / Green Deal Assessor
Many businesses are now looking at ways in which they can reduce costs, increase productivity and address their corporate responsibilities. On completion of an energy audit we are able to show businesses ways in which they can significantly save money on energy costs, free up resources being consumed by energy waste and improve their corporate ‘Green’ image and impact on the environment.
Savings can be significant, almost all businesses can save 20% or more.
Furthermore, with the government’s recent introduction of the Feed In Tariffs (FITS) and Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI), businesses can now not only save but also earn money by ‘Going Green’.
The role of the Green Deal Advisor / Green Deal Assessor will be to facilitate reports and assessments needed under the governments flagship scheme - The Green Deal
New to 2012 - The Green Deal
The Energy Act 2011 includes provisions for the new 'Green Deal' set to launch in the Autumn of this year, which intends to reduce carbon emissions cost effectively by revolutionising the energy efficiency of British properties and businesses
The key to Green Deal is its diversity and flexibility
All Green Deal customers will benefit from a comprehensive and impartial assessment of their property, and will be able to shop around between different offers in the market place. Customers can use the new Green Deal finance to pay for the energy efficiency measure up to the limit of the golden rule or the can use it alongside their own investment where they want other improvement measures which are not expected to generate savings on their energy bill.
The Golden Rule
The Green Deal "Golden Rule", set out in legislation, specifies that any charge attached must be less than the expected savings from the improvement. Of course, not every measure will pay for itself. Some homes and businesses, due to their construction type, are more complex and more expensive to improve and need measures like solid wall insulation which may not always meet this Golden Rule. In addition to there are many low income and vulnerable households who cannot afford to heat their homes properly at the moment. These homes will benefit from measures like insulation and new heating systems not so much by saving money on their bills, as by ending up living in a warmer, healthier home. To help the poorest and most vulnerable households, extra financial support will be needed, this support is called the ECO (Energy Company Obligation) whereby a commitment from the energy companies will be made to support these types of consumers.

2. Commercial Energy Performance Certificates
EPCs are required for most private sector commercial buildings on construction, sale or rent. Key clients for this type of report include commercial letting or sales agents, construction companies, business transfer agents, commercial landlords or facility managers.
Only qualified Non-Domestic Energy Assessors (NDEAs) can conduct these surveys. The franchise training programme incorporates the Level 3 Diploma in Non-Domestic Energy Assessment
3. Air Conditioning Inspection Reports
Air conditioning accounts for approximately 30% of all energy consumed in buildings which feature air conditioning installations. Therefore the Government has made it a legal requirement for air con systems to undergo regular inspections to assess their energy efficiency.
New legislation, introduced in 2011, requires all air conditioning systems over 12kW (which accounts for the majority of systems in use) to have en energy efficiency inspection. Unlike other EPC requirements, Air Con Reports are required for all units, and not just when the property is being rented or sold.
4. Display Energy Certificates (DECs)
DECs show the actual energy usage of a public sector building, the Operational Rating, and help to display it in a format visible to the public. This is based on the energy consumption of the building as recorded by electricity, gas and other meters.
As a qualified DEC assessor, Green Assess franchisees will prepare the Display Energy Certificate (which needs to be completed yearly) and the accompanying Advisory Report that lists cost-effective measures to improve the energy rating of the building.
